Installing KherveFitting
Here we will take you through the steps to install KherveFitting, and get up and running.
Locate the .exe that was just downloaded from SourceForge
When you open it, select a directory for install.
DO NOT INSTALL IN MY PROGRAMS AS THIS CAN CAUSE ISSUES
Find a suitable folder, and install it there. We will be opening the .exe directly from the folder.
Locate your install folder and open the .exe within.
DO NOT RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR – THIS CAN CAUSE ISSUES
You will be prompted to read the manual upon first time opening.
From here on, keep a toolbar or start menu shortcut to your folder .exe and you can access KherveFit anytime!
In the data folder – you will find sample data to practice using the software.
In the peak library – you will find .json files containing lineshape types and peak parameters. You can create new models by editing these, or saving directly to .json files from within KherveFit!
In the config.json file you will find editable default preferences (which can also be edited in the software)
In the KherveFitting_library.json file you will find the standard peak properties and relative sensitivity factors for all elements. It is not recommended you edit these unless you are experienced with XPS libraries.
The KherveFit Library XLSX file contains a highly useful resource for XPS emission lines and RSF values (Schofield factors).
